Day 1: Drive from Momela Gate to Miriakampa Hut
The 3 days 2 nights Mount Meru trekking tour starts from Moshi or Arusha to Momela Gate. As we continue our gradual ascent through the montane forest, we can come across cape buffalos, warthogs, giraffes, and elephants. You can eat lunch at the well-known "Fig tree." You will have your first up-close look at the massive cliffs and the Ash Cone by mid-afternoon. Spend the night at Miriakampa Hut.
Day 2: Hike Miriakampa Hut to Saddle Hut, afternoon hike up Little Meru
Elevation: 2,514 m (8,250 ft) to 3,570 m (11,712 ft)

The walk from Miriakampa Hut to the saddle below Little Meru is a steep sustained climb all the way. Starting through beautiful and lush montane forest, the path continues beyond the halfway point of Elephant Back Ridge and carries on uphill through the giant heather and other moorland vegetation to reach Saddle Hut for lunch. In the afternoon, you can make the short climb to the nearby summit of Little Meru(3,820m) for superb views just before sunset. Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.
Day 3: Hike to Summit then down to trail head, return to Arusha

The summit day begins early, at midnight. After a difficult climb that takes an hour to reach Rhino Point, we continue along an ash and rock ridge until we arrive at Cobra Point. It takes an additional hour to reach the top of Socialist Peak (4,566 m), which offers breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro. You may watch the sunrise at Cobra Point or the summit, depending on your hiking speed. One of the most dramatic and thrilling climbs in Africa is the route back to Rhino Point, along a small ridge between the high cliffs of the inner wall and the crater's sloping outer wall. At Saddle Hut, have lunch and take a short rest before continuing your descent to Miriakampa Hut then to Arusha.
